Ahlan!! = Welcome!

Hi everyone and Welcome to Simply Arabic,

I've created this blog for all of you who are keen on Learning Arabic as a second language.

I know arabic is a pretty complicated language and fairly different from most european languages. So I'll try and simplify things to enable you to pick up a few words that are universally understood amoung the 22 different countries that speak arabic.

I will be ignoring the alphabet initially as learning a new alphabit will delay the process of learning. We will start like kids and would be following these steps:

- Hear it!
- Say it!
- Use it!
- Read it!
- Write it!

The aim of that is to use the natural way that our brains use to learn our mother tongue in order to learn arabic as a second language. Moreover, it should make the learning process more fun and less stressful.

So simple easy lessons with tiny baby steps to get you there.

Salam! (literally means Peace and commonly used for Hello and Goodbye!)

Hello Sulaiman,

It was refreshing to see your approach in bringing us the gift of language (Gosh! please forgive my spelling and typos always).
Personally, I learn a language in reverse and direct literal translation i.e. in this case, the Arabic word first, followed by it's direct English translation. Word for word DIRECT translation is the only approach I can take you see, as I am a simple creature of note. Teehee. Your way of teaching seems to be in a direct word-for-word form, but if I may also comment on pronunciation: I understand you are being compassionate to those whose tongues are not quite used to folding around the tasty letters of the Arabic alphabet, but would like to also express that when you give the lessons (oh, and I do so hope you will continue) that you please always include the actual pronunciation even if with the pronunciation that would not be so difficult for un-adventurous tongues mmmm? Eh, what to say, but this is my personal opinion and need, who am I other than an embryo in this language so many could learn.

Thank you ever so very much for your tiem taken in teaching us.

salam,
my name is lauren. i am an actress in nyc. i came across your youtube video when i was researching arabic for a play that i am in. i play yasmin, a lebanese girl who starts a relationship with an american computer hacker. the play is in english but the playwright has allowed me to say some things in arabic and so i wanted to learn some phrases. i think your arabic lesson was the most helpful thing i came across and iwas wondering i could ask you if you had any more videos. i would like to know how to say " i am not afraid of you!" or "get away" something that is strong and expressive but that is not too complicated. comthanks a lot.
